The Benefits of Accredited Online Bachelor Degree Programs

It is easier than ever to get an accredited online bachelor degree thanks to the increasing number of accredited online degrees offered by accredited colleges. All you need to get an accredited online bachelor degree is a computer, basic computer know-how, a good Internet connection, some spare time any time during your daily life, and some money. Depending on the online college in which you enroll, some or all of your course work and classroom interaction can be done by a combination of e-mail, Web browsing, forum interaction, online quizzes and tests, and multimedia presentations. While these programs were once looked down on by some employers and elite educational institutions, most respectable colleges now offer online classes and many offer complete online bachelor degree programs. This is because colleges and employers have come to respect that the most successful people in society are too busy to attend classes, though many hunger to continue their education.

The flexibility of accredited online bachelor degree programs is unmatched by any type of offline educational program. Most of these accredited online bachelor degree programs will let you work at your pace over a period of up to eight to twelve years for your degree. So you can schedule in your classes only when it makes sense for your schedule. Some people get breaks in their work schedule or between jobs for five or six months and take advantage of it to double up or even triple their class load with these flexible programs. Some hardworking students have done their online degrees in as little as 18 months. Offline study programs tend to be set in stone with you either enrolling as a part-time student or full-time student, required to take a set amount or range of units during each term of a set length and set class meeting schedule. Special petitions to the dean or academic board of offline degree programs are generally required every time you make a small deviation to the set program.

The reputation of the school you attend is far more important to your future employability than whether you attended school at home or on the Internet. In fact, most universities don't make any distinction about how you obtained your degree, only stating that you obtained your degree from them.

In addition to the obvious benefits of still being able to meet your family and work obligations, obtaining your degree online has some less obvious benefits in the flexibility it provides to your non-scholastic life. If you have medical emergencies or need to attend to an ailing family member or have problems at work that require overtime, you're lucky if they even excuse your absences at an offline university, let alone the probability of having your grades docked. At an online college, short-term disruptions in your life seldom cause major damage to your academic record. If your disruption takes less than a couple weeks, it may not even require that your online school or professors even know anything ever happened.

Earn An Online Degree To Save Your Time

Every high school student wants to become a graduate. It can bring in major changes in your life. Till today, there was only one way to become a graduate. You have to enroll yourself in a four year college course. With information technology, it has become easier to earn a bachelor degree online. We are talking about online universities, which award online degrees in various studies to aspiring students. The universities working online are in no way differing from their traditional counterparts.

Popular online degrees

Undergraduate students can earn an online bachelor degree, associate or masters degree in any of the studies. Determined students can even go for higher studies such as phd. from an online university. Law, Medical, Computer (Software and Hardware) Engineering, Bachelor of Business Administration, Economics, Fine Arts, Master of Business Administration, Accounts, Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelors of Computing (B.Comp.), Bachelors of Divinity (B.D.), Bachelors of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) etc. are some of the popular online courses.

The need for online degrees

It is not necessary that every high school graduate should pursue an online course. There are some reasons, which compel a student to enroll in an online university. Let us discuss some of the reasons in this article.

  • Universities, working through internet, offer a wide range choice to students. You can find out thousands of bachelor degree courses.

  • Time invested in earning a bachelor degree is most important for any student. You spend four years in a traditional college to become a graduate but an online university gives you the liberty to become a graduate in less than two years.

  • Universities available on the internet charge much less fess as compared to traditional one. Students, which are unable to pay the huge fees of a traditional college, can easily arrange funds for cost effective degree courses on the internet.

  • Classrooms are organized on the internet and students can chat with the professor. You can attend classes when you have enough time to devote. It gives students liberty to do anything in their free time. They can earn their bread and better. Working students find it much easier to pursue their studies through the internet.

  • Information technology has made the admission procedure for these universities easier. The process goes on 365 days a year. You have to log on to fill the enrollment form and the rest of the task is completed by university officials. Students with lower GPA can also get enrollment.

  • Students with physical disabilities get more than they desire form these universities. They pursue their graduation without stepping into a classroom.

These are some of the reasons why students prefer to study through the internet.

Students must earn only an accredited online degree. You can go for higher studies or apply for jobs only after earning an accredited online degree. So before investing your time and money to pursue an online course verify with the United States Department of Education whether the university is accredited or not.

I will throw light on various university degrees online in my next article.

Online Associate Nursing Degree Programs

At first, you would like to study what is accessible online for the universities and colleges having on-campus associate nursing degree programs in the community. You will discover that you will not be capable to do the whole associate degree nursing education on the Internet as you have to obtain experience in the hospital. It means learning how to give treatments and shots, and all about the tools, working with patients and animal cadavers and so on. Though you will be capable to take an amount of nursing as well as other courses, which don't need in-hospital and in-lab work.

Thus, you may wind up with various courses taken at several colleges, universities or community colleges. So in case that is the way that you select to go you should be careful the colleges will accept the credit transfers from other online and on campus colleges you are attending.

It is better to examine it in person with somebody in authority at on-campus colleges they will transfer to make doubly sure.

Also, you may have to be selected into a particular nursing program in an on-campus college to learn what courses you should take plus in what order is needed, and for other reasons etc.
Thus, you want to find the closest nursing universities, colleges and schools to you having excellent associate nursing degree programs. In case there are several, you should compare them. One of the colleges may not provide online classes or online nursing degree programs.
You should conduct a lot of research on the Internet with the universities and colleges offering the best associate nursing degree programs online as well as nursing courses to assist to get the nursing degree.

Distance Learning, Online Education, Electronic Education, Electronic Learning...Call It What You Wa

Whatever you want to label "learning at home" and however you want to define the latest buzz words for non-traditional education, you can find a program and method that suits your needs. Right now over 1.2 million people in the U.S. participate in some form of distance learning, with a projected expansion to 2.3 million in just a few years.

In looking at this rapidly expanding and viable form of education and training, there are a few basic things you need to consider and some decisions you need to make in order to create the environment that will best suit your needs. You need to know the what, the why, the benefits and the how of the various forms of distance learning.

Distance learning (correspondence courses) started in Europe in the 1800's and has evolved into a multifaceted term that serves many purposes. Some of the forms of distance learning are: correspondence courses, online education, internet based education, electronic education, e-education, electronic learning, and e-learning. How these terms differ will depend upon how the institution defines and labels the programs which they offer. To simplify the whole concept, let's say that these terms represent ways of learning away from a "brick and mortar" facility. Some distance learning and/or online programs may or may not be connected to a university or college. There are many programs that are independent and are not affiliated with any institution.

Distance learning offers a variety of paths to personal goals which include: GED, associate degrees, bachelor degrees, graduate certificates, master degrees, doctoral degrees, non-credit training courses, and others. Whether a person is seeking a degree, keeping professional skills updated, or pursuing skills for an interest area or hobby, there is a program or offering that should work.

Why are so many people turning to distance learning? What are its advantages? On a personal level look at such pros as: maintaining privacy; provides convenience; enables a flexible schedule; allows for balancing job and family obligations; working at own pace, going slowly or accelerating learning; can be less expensive; great for homebound individuals; no unnecessary travel; no formal class attendance; and can "learn while you earn." These are a few of the many things that are causing quite a number of people to take an entirely different approach to attaining knowledge/skills and/or earning a degree.

Those who advocate against an alternative of distance learning, often site the lack of socialization which is a part of a traditional type of education. However, not everyone is looking for the classroom activities, college events/parties, and the interactions that are a part of a school campus. Many of the classroom activities such as discussion and support can be achieved online. The other things that an online education will reinforce are: reading - ebooks, up to date
references, current research; listening - through audio lectures or clips; seeing- through graphic illustrations and demonstrations; doing - assignments, quizzes, exams, research papers; and speaking/communication - through email, chats, and electronic discussions. A distance learning program can be far more than just reading and writing.

What are the requirements for becoming a part of a distance learning program? Many programs require a minimum of a GED or taking an admissions test. Usually, the process for applying will include: an application; transcripts; test scores; an essay; and letters of recommendation. The less formal the program, the less formal the requirements. There is a wide range in answering this questions. However, what is necessary for an online program is the right computer equipment with the internet connection (high speed), word processing capability; email; and multimedia player. The program you choose will provide more specific details for recommendation about equipment and software.

In choosing a program there some questions to ask as you do your research and make your selection. Ask about the following: help/support is offered; qualifications of the instructors; number of years the institution has provided services; is it an accredited program; details about the curriculum; and multimedia elements of the program. By the way, accreditation is voluntary since there is no officially sanctioned entity in existence. However, most schools considered the six regional accrediting agencies listings to be legitimate agencies. Ask if it is regionally accredited.

The last thing you need to think about is your motivation and work ethic. If you are a good reader (good reading comprehension skills) who doesn't procrastinate and can avoid distractions, you will be a good candidate for an alternative approach to education. In this age of global education and the need for current knowledge and skills, this is a fast delivery system that will bring all the technological advancement right into your living room instantaneously. It works for more than a million people, and it can work for you.

Get Your Nursing Degree Online!

The nursing profession has changed considerably since the days of white shoes, stethoscopes and a good bedside manner. Where once there was only one kind of nurse, the profession has become an alphabet soup of abbreviations such as LPN's, RN's and many others. Deciding what kind of nurse you'll be even effects your decision when attending an online university or going for financial aid.

Basically, nurses can best be categorized according to their industry licensure and any further specialized credentials. These categories often denote a particular degree level attained type of work environment, and even salary range. From there, it's a virtual alphabet soup of varieties, whether one wants to become an RN, LPN or something even a cruise nurse.
Critical to all this is certification. While Registered Nurses (RN's) don't need a specific kind of certification, you will need some certification to work in any magnet hospital or decent research facility. Certification means a nurse is an expert in a certain field, ranging from surgical to home health care. It's another important decision one must consider when entering the field.
The broadest category is the Registered Nurse (RN). They are loosely defined as advocates for the care of the sick and maintenance of their health. From there, an RN's responsibilities/powers are defined by each U.S. state's Nurse's Practicing Act (NPA). It takes a minimum of three years to get an RN diploma. The national average for salary is about $60,000.
Another key category is the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). They are often found working under the supervision of physicians in clinics and hospitals, or in private home health care. Education and training is vocational-based, hospital-based, or college-based, and can vary from 9 month to 3 years in time for certain specialties and require an associate degree in practical nursing. The average salary here is about $34,000.
Below the LPN is the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The Nursing Assistant still holds a high level of ability, but without qualification is unable to often perform some tasks due to issues of liability and legality. They provide the bulk of the grunt work in a hospital setting, depending again on the NPA. The CNA's salary is the widest ranging, usually starting at just short of $20,000 and into the 30's.
From there the nursing field diversifies into a number of different specialties, and can range anywhere from social work and cruise nurses to setting up their own offices as nurse practitioners. Salaries and certification can go into the $100,000 range. Naturally, there is some sort of certification that comes with the specialty, but that's a decision one can make after getting licensed by a state.

About the Author

A nurse can also jump from one category to another, depending on their personal desires. Many health institutes encourage their nurses to attend nursing college online, rewarding them by paying their tuitions or salary increases upon graduation. No matter what, nursing with a degree on linehas become a broad field for anyone willing to put in the effort.

Do Online Degrees Have Accreditation of Any Sort?

The concept of earning a degree online is gaining more and more popularity which is drawing the attention of a number of students interested in distance learning towards such programs. Unfortunately, most of the students don't perform a proper research and gather information relevant to this issue, leading to failure in determining the right choice. So, it is extremely essential for every individual to analyze all factors before going through the registration procedure in any institute.

Students have a diverse choice of online study courses which makes it quite tricky for them to make the most ideal decision. You must have heard the saying, "All that glitters isn't gold". So, in the light of this phrase you can easily understand that blindly believing the claims and promises of any institute before getting a clear idea about its accreditation status is like inviting trouble. Yes, only accredited universities and colleges can make your future safer and brighter. Opting for an unaccredited university/college for your degree would surely be risky and insecure.

Here is all one must be aware of regarding the "accreditation phenomenon" in the United States. Chiefly, there are two kinds of accreditation recognized by the US i.e. National Accreditation and Regional Accreditation. Specialized Accreditation is however another kind but is less common. Both regional and national accreditations are completely convincing and valid but differ in nature.

Basically, regional accreditation is limited to a particular section of U.S. with supervising agencies that have the approval of the U.S. Department of Education or Council for Higher Education Accreditation. North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, New England Association of Schools and Colleges are included in the accreditation agencies at the regional level.

National accreditation agencies issue certification to any institution interested in getting accredited. There are several national accreditation agencies in the US such as Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT), Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) and Association of Biblical Higher Education to name a few.

Coming to specialized accreditation, it is the accreditation issued by some accredited institutions, generally at the professional level. For instance, some medical universities support specialized accreditation for the provision of license to practice as doctors or pharmacists.

Now, regional and national accreditation have some points in common. Firstly, both the forms of accreditation make use of similar procedures that institutes seeking accreditation have to go through. Once the agencies have carried out a deep analysis of all the educational factors of the institutes, the accreditation is given to the specific institutes. Secondly, both are non profit organizations. Besides, the two types of accreditation institutes have facility of giving financial support to students via loans or other resources.

On the other hand, the two possess certain points of dissimilarity as well. A noteworthy difference between the two is the level at which accreditation is held i.e. regional accreditation is held at the regional level and thus regional agencies administer traditional schools and colleges restricted to a particular section. Similarly, national accreditation agencies certify all interested institutes that have common motives and themes.

Keep in mind that both national and regional accreditation will suit your needs. The authorization of previous degrees or qualifications when applying for admittance in an institute is yet another issue to be measured. Finally, remember that most of the employers will willingly hire you merely because of the fact that you have an accredited study background i.e. they give a damn whether your accreditation is regional or national. So, make the right decision and save your future.
